Murs
Murs
For over two decades, Murs has fearlessly rapped with power, poise, and purpose. Picking up a mic in high school, he founded 3 Melancholy Gypsys before logging time in influential West Coast collective Living Legends. Following his 1997 solo debut F’Real, he unleashed a string of underground classics, including The End of the Beginning for EL-P’s Definitive Jux [2003], the major label breakout Murs for President [2008], and the critically acclaimed Have A Nice Life [2015]. The latter earned praise from the likes of Pitchfork, HipHopDX, and XXL who wrote, “Murs utilizes the full arsenal of his skills to craft an album with the same passion as an artist introducing himself to the world for the first time.” Most recently, 2017’s Captain California maintained that momentum andwent Top 25 on the Billboard Independent Albums Chart.

Simultaneously, he remains the consummate “rapper’s rapper.” Between six lauded collaborative releases with 9th Wonder, he joined forces with Sacha Jenkins and iconic Bad Brains bassist Daryl Jennifer in The White Mandingos and shared bars with everybody from Kendrick Lamar and E-40 to Snoop Dogg and Warren G. 2016 saw him make history by setting a Guinness World Record by “Rapping for 24 Hours Non-Stop” during a Twitch.tvlivestream. Entering the studio in November 2017 with producer Michael “Seven” Summers, a series of trials and tribulations triggered the 14 songs comprising his 15th full-length and fourth for Strange Music, the aptly titled A Strange Journey Into The Unimaginable—which drops on his fortieth birthday March 16, 2018.ormation was produced solely by Ski Beatz, while 2012's The Final Adventure found him partnering with 9th Wonder for one last album. In 2013 he signed with Tech N9ne's label Strange Music. A year later he collaborated with Strange label regulars Mayday! on the album ¡Mursday! His solo debut for the label followed in 2015 when Have a Nice Life landed with guest shots from Slug, Mayday!, and Ces Cru. ~ Bradley Torreano, Rovi"

The Bullhead*ded Origin Story...

Cut back in time. 10 years ago.. The location: The Black Sheep. The event: El-P (Now known for Run The Jewels fame) is headlining a concert. Amongst the openers that night were two local hip-hop groups: Made Up Minds and TooTone Taurus. Made Up Minds consists of Nato Lucero and Found*ded Records founder ZETfree. TooTone Taurus was made up of Che Bong and Jay P. S. The two groups hit it off. As Che Bong's lyrics highlight in "Ded*dicatoAmore", "Collabs between the two groups got it started right. Got itchy feet and hit the road like every other night." Over the course of the next year the two groups played some 200 shows together. In 2010 the collective put together a grass-roots west-coast tour. Together they decided that it made more sense to tour as one group that no one knows as opposed to two groups no one knows. So, they combined the two groups into one. TooTone Taurus and Made Up Minds Became Bullhead*ded. BULL (Taurus of TooTone Taurus) HEAD (Mind of Made Up Minds) *DED (Found*ded records). A bond of brotherhood was forged during that tour that has already endured the group far beyond the normal life span of a vast majority of hip-hop groups.
The main meaning behind the name is an indicator of their unwillingness to quit. Their drive to continue in their passion no matter what. They are too stubborn and bullheaded to ever stop making music.
