In just a few short years, Wildermiss has built up a fiercely loyal following, first at home in Colorado and then across the country. One of Denver’s most popular acts, the band gains new fans every time it plays. Whether the quartet is selling out storied venues in its hometown, headlining festivals, or lifting the spirits of stir-crazed fans in the middle of a pandemic (playing songs in front of their houses on the back of a flatbed truck), Wildermiss pulls people in with the palpable passion of its performances, which more than measure up to the magnetism of its music.

After seeing them on tours supporting bands like the Oh Hellos, Jared and the Mill and Bronze Radio Return or catching cameo performances on shows like Last Call With Carson Daly, fans across the country soon discovered what fans in Denver have been raving about since the band first started. Growing from a humble opening act, Wildermiss now routinely sells out the Bluebird Theater, in addition to playing prime mainstage sets at the city’s biggest music festivals, including iHeart Radio’s Big Gig at the 18,000-seat amphitheater Fiddler’s Green, the Westword Music Showcase and the Underground Music Showcase, which each draw tens of thousands of fans.

On the strength of its spirited live show and the infectiousness of its distinctive brand of indie pop, Wildermiss has become as popular with the press and radio as it is with fans. Right out of the gate, in fact, “Carry Your Heart,” the outfit’s debut single, attracted the attention of KTCL, the taste-making beacon that has bolstered the careers of bands like the Oh Hellos and championed Denver acts like Nathaniel Rateliff & the Night Sweats, The Fray, The Lumineers, and countless others. With strong local support, the station sent the song, which showcased the band’s knack for writing anthemic, arena-sized hooks, into heavy rotation.

Since releasing Lost With You, the auspicious 2017 EP that featured “Carry Your Heart,” the band’s music has become even more memorable with stronger melodies, tighter arrangements, and pristine production. On In My Mind, the act’s acclaimed 2019 full-length, and “Supermagical,” a subsequent single released this year, Emma Cole’s expressive voice propel the mesmerizing music, driven the intricate guitar lines of Seth Beamer and Josh Hester and the frenetic drumming of Caleb Thoemke.

The stream of stirring songs continues to flow with “Italy,” the latest tune from Wildermiss. In her most captivating performance yet, Cole sends sparks flying in all directions as her impassioned vocals add vibrant colors to a dynamic, widescreen arrangement that builds from a subtle intro into a soaring chorus that explodes like a burst of fireworks with embers that gently float to the ground, leaving behind an exhilarating trail as the last strains fade.
