Murs
Murs
"A longtime friend of Definitive Jux leader El-P, rapper Murs first appeared as a solo artist in 2003, after nearly a decade of working with various groups in the underground. Based in Los Angeles, his first single was released in 1993, and came from a self-released album by his first group, 3 Melancholy Gypsies. The track barely made a dent, but it did catch the attention of indie hip-hop fans in the area. Over time, the group members became friends with Mystik Journeymen, who asked 3MG (their shortened name) to join them when they started the Living Legends collective in 1996.
Between both 3MG and the Living Legends, Murs rapped on several influential indie rap albums, appearing on more than 20 records, EPs, and singles within a seven-year period. When El-P started to pull together his Def Jux label, Murs contacted the producer and told him he would release his solo record for the company once he had the opportunity. His commitments to both the Legends and 3MG often kept him from working on the album, but after a few years of slowly putting together tracks, Murs finally delivered The End of the Beginning in the spring of 2003.
Featuring flashier production than his group projects, the album was more in tune with a mainstream hip-hop record, though projects with Anticon rapper Slug under the name Felt -- A Tribute to Christina Ricci and A Tribute to Lisa Bonet -- unveiled a more experimental side to his artistry. The rapper returned to solo work with Murs 3:16: The 9th Edition, a collaboration with producer 9th Wonder, in 2004. One of the tracks from that album, ""Walk Like a Man,"" inspired a movie starring Murs himself, along with Damien Wigfall. The soundtrack, Walk Like a Man, also appeared in mid-2005. Murs teamed up again with 9th Wonder to release Murray's Revenge in 2006. Two years later, he jumped to the majors for a contract with Warner Bros., which yielded Murs for President, with appropriately major-label features for will.i.am and Snoop Dogg. Another two years later, Murs reunited with 9th Wonder to make Fornever. His 2011 effort Love + Rockets, Vol. 1: The Transformation was produced solely by Ski Beatz, while 2012's The Final Adventure found him partnering with 9th Wonder for one last album. In 2013 he signed with Tech N9ne's label Strange Music. A year later he collaborated with Strange label regulars Mayday! on the album ¡Mursday! His solo debut for the label followed in 2015 when Have a Nice Life landed with guest shots from Slug, Mayday!, and Ces Cru. ~ Bradley Torreano, Rovi"
Audible
Audible
Audible, a band formed in January 2012, consists of two musicians in the business of combining their talents to introduce a new sound. HoTT (the emcee) alongside Jeb Burgess (guitarist/vocalist) collectively represent the upstate New York and Rocky Mountain regions. With an emphasis on modern intelligence and an intimate live performance, these young creators are engraving their initials on the walls of today’s popular music scene. Their debut album “Who Are You Supposed To Be” is slated for a December 2012 release.
Stay Tuned
Stay Tuned
In an internet age where information is coming to us at light speed, how does one bridge the gap between real life and our pixelated version? Stay Tuned to find out.
One of the few live acts to successfully marry the concept of Audio and Visual -
and quite possibly the only live Hip-Hop act to do so - Stay Tuned was the most
fitting name for the outfit, based initially on their love for all "sub-genres" of Hip-Hop and music as a whole, and the influence those styles have had on them. This was first reflected in the recorded music made, taking Boom-Bap, Dubstep/Electro, Hardcore, Downtempo...righteously, whatever moved them at the moment, and crafting live sets as such. Boston MC, Akrobatik pointed out to the duo that he admired how they'd bounce around sonically in their live sets, which was also metaphoric for the ups and downs that were faced in the industry itself. The light bulb flashed. MC Mane Rok figured "Stay Tuned" would perfectly describe the musical path taken-of which grew when the live set coupled itself with the visual portion, leaving the group's then DJ-DeeJay Tense- as the program director controlling a live video feed with his turntables. This continued to grow and began to come full circle,
influencing how overall ideas and themes for albums came to fruition. The first
being the fictional story of a serial killer (with an underlying theme
questioning media practices) in the form of "Murder He Wrote: A Love
Story."
The Stay Tuned moniker would allow the group to have interchangeable parts. Akin to the idea of channel surfing, letting them invite special guest performers,
making each show unique. The channel surfing idea has come to full bloom in their self titled EP released (1/24/15 simply take a listen to understand),
which was also the official introduction of the groups new DJ, DJ AWHAT!!!
(formerly of The Pirate Signal,) as well as the first official track including MC Ichiban, and the change itself begs the listener to...well...Stay Tuned.

It's been one crazy year for me. Starting off with a hand-full of shows djing and hosting and putting together some of 2010's best mixed genre showcases like Audio Elevation and the new Audio Blowout Mixed Genre series. I now am currently in between a couple different projects with various artists. There is a lot happening I just ask everyone be as patient as possible. My recording habits currently have me constantly bringing out new material which some will be featured on those upcoming projects or not :)
