Sevendust
Comprising lead singer Lajon Witherspoon, guitarists John Connolly and Clint Lowery, bass player Vince Hornsby and drummer Morgan Rose, this Alternative-Metal band formed in Atlanta, Georgia USA, in 1994 as Crawlspace; signing to TVT Records, the group adopted the name Sevendust.
The quintet released their self-titled debut album in the spring of 1997, it peaked at #5 on The Billboard Top Heatseekers chart and by the time went gold spawning three Mainstream Rock top 40 single cuts: “Bitch”, “Too Close To Hate” and “Black”.
Two years later, their second effort, “Home” cracked the top 20 of The Billboard 200 Albums chart and the lead single, “Denial”, peaked at #14 on The Mainstream Rock list; the second single track, “Waffle”, made top 30 in the same chart.
In late 2000 the group’s frontman, Lajon Witherspoon, made a special guest appearance on various artists alt-Metal project “Strait Up”, recording “Angels’ Son”, the single hit #15 on The Modern Rock chart and shortly thereafter, Sevendust embarked on an American tour as openers for Creed.
Their next album, 2001’s “Animosity”, reached the #28 position in the U.S. chart and generated three Active Rock top 40 tracks, including the #15 “Praise”, “Live Again” and “Xmas Day”; the band supported the album performing on the national tour, Locobazooka, sharing the stage with Filter, Nonpoint, Earshot and many more.
Sevendust’s fourth album was issued in October of 2003, the set climbed The Billboard Top 200 reaching #14, their best chart-placing to date; “Enemy” hit #10 on The Mainstream Rock Tracks list; “Broken Down” and “Face To Face” followed, reaching respectively the #20 and #22 spots in the same chart.
In December 2004 Clint Lowery left the band citing “personal issues” and began work on his new project, Dark New Day.
Weeks later, Sevendust hired Sonny Mayo to fill the vacant guitarist slot and in October 2005 released “Next” which shot into the top 20 of The Billboard 200 chart while the first single, “Ugly”, peaked at #12 on The Mainstream Rock chart; the follow-up single, " Failure", also enjoyed airplay on Active Rock stations breaking into the top 30 on Billboard’s Mainstream Rock list.
The Atlanta-based quintet’s sixth full-length studio record, “Alpha”, was released in March 2007 and rose to #14 on The Billboard 200. The disc contained the album’s preceding internet track “Deathstar”, the Hot Mainstream Rock top 10 smash “Driven” and a further Active Rock radio top 40 hit in the form of " Beg To Differ".
April 2008, saw Sevendust unleash its latest record, “Chapter VII Hope And Sorrow”, their second on the band’s wholly owned record label, 7Bros. Records under Warner Music Group’s Asylum. The Hot Mainstream Rock top 30 hit “Prodigal Son” is the first official single lifted from their new CD.
